What’s Your Story?

28 Jan

There are people today who believe that they are just too bad to be good.
The truth is, they are right. We are all too bad to be good.

We all have a story that includes sin.There is none righteous, no not one.
We have all sinned by saying and doing things that were not right; things
that we know were just wrong. This includes the most loving, gentle
person you know. (Romans 3:10)

Nevertheless, there’s a place for you and your story. It doesn’t matter how
bad your story is. Even those with the worst stories are welcome. Where
can you go and be forgiven, delivered, and restored?  It’s the place of
trusting  Jesus as the one who loves you more than anyone ever could.
He loves you so much that he died to take your sin away, giving
you an opportunity to change your story. (John 3:16, Romans 4:25)

Do you know that Jesus was accused of hanging out with sinners? He didn’t
shy away from those who accused Him. “Jesus answered and said to them,
Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.
I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance.”
‭Luke‬ ‭5:31-32‬ ‭

Notice that Jesus didn’t leave people in the same condition as He found
them. As the physician, He healed the sin sick by calling them to repentance.
As you come to this new place of trusting Jesus, you are made anew.
II Corinthians 5:17

So what’s holding you back from coming to Jesus? What’s your story?
If being bad was your excuse, you just read that Jesus hung out with
sinners. Remember, He came to heal the sick. His healing replaces our sin
with His righteousness, and gives us beauty for ashes.
II Corinthians 5:21, Isaiah 61:1-3

Invite Jesus to come into your heart today. You may not see tomorrow.
Trusting Jesus changes your today, as well as your eternal destination.
He longs to give you rest in His finished work on the cross for your sin.
He longs to give you freedom and rest, changing your story. “Today,
if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.”  ‭Hebrews‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Go Tell It!

18 Dec

Usually around Christmas time we hear and sing “Go Tell It On The Mountains”. It reminds us that we are to tell, to speak of Christ’s birth. Christmas provides a great opportunity to “tell it”, but so does each day. Christ was born so that we would be re-born, living lives that honor Him. This is also a part of the story that we should tell!

Recently I spent time with a friend who loves the Lord. Occasionally she has told me about decisions that she made that are not as the saying goes ” What Jesus would do”.

Sometimes I uncomfortably excused myself, saying she knows wrong from right. As the Lord would have it, I was given another opportunity to “tell it” so to speak. I prayed quickly and was surprised by what happened next.

I spoke about the Lord’s love of integrity, and how He supports us when we do things His way. My friend agreed! I was thrilled, but more importantly, The Lord was pleased!

You may be looking for an opportunity to tell it on the mountains that Jesus Christ is born and that’s great! However, I urge you to recognize that daily, we are given opportunities to “tell ” those around us.

We are to tell that Jesus Christ was born so that we would be reborn into lives that continuously glorify and honor the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. May we daily seize the wonderful opportunities we are given to “tell it”!

Born Again Christmas

10 Dec

You saved me now and you saved me then
Way back when divine took upon flesh
Was born into my world
Mess
Of sin and shame
You came and changed my name
From sinner to Saint
To is from ain’t
Now destined for heaven
Glory
Be to God
In the highest
I’m a miracle you see
Doesn’t stop with me
Born to save the world You were
Christmas You are
The Christ, Jesus, hidden in the midst
Hoping that this
World would celebrate You
Hidden in the midst of shopping stress
Murder terrorists war poverty rebellion
Disease
What a mess
Glory be to God peace on earth
Good will to men
Oh that all would be born again
