Imagine Going for It!

10 Jan

It’s a New Year! Thank God, that we are all blessed to see 2016. What was most memorable for you about 2015? Praise pause – if it was horrible, thank God that He brought you through it, despite the difficulty. If your most memorable event in 2015 was awesome, thank God for that wonderful thing He did that still has the ability to make you smile.

It’s time now for a new thing (Isaiah 43:19). That New thing will come to you, but it won’t come simply by the resolution that you may have written down or spoken. It will come to you as you seek God first (prayer) and then take the necessary steps to see it come to pass. You see, God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think. But it is according to the power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20).

What is the power that’s working in you? Is fear the power that hinders new things from coming forth in your life? I’ve heard it said that fear is imagined. But whatever you meditate upon (even if it is fear) has the possibility of becoming your reality.

So what is the great new thing that you can imagine happening in your life? Instead of allowing fear to invade your thoughts, imagine the new thing whether it’s weight loss, a new job, or a stronger marriage.

After imagining that new thing and praying about it, what steps must you take to see it come to pass? Keep in mind that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but He has given you power, love, and a sound mind. Faith in the Lord releases you from the bondage and torment of fear, allowing you to defeat the fear and take the steps needed to bring the new thing to pass. (II Timothy 1:7, Romans 8: 15, Matthew 11:12).

Remember, GOD is ABLE to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you can ask or think according to the power that works in you. You desire a new thing and so does He. Imagine that! But don’t stop there. Go for it!

Zacharias, Mary, and You

28 Dec

Luke 1 provides us with two accounts of the Angel Gabriel on assignment. In the first scene, Gabriel tells Zacharias that his prayers have been heard, and he and his wife Elizabeth will have a son and call him John.

Gabriel goes on to tell Zacharias that John would be a great man of God and that many would turn to the Lord through John. Zacharias asked how would he know this, adding that he was an old man and his wife was an old woman.

The Angel’s answer was swift. “‬‬“And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings. And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.” (Luke‬ ‭1:19-20‬). ‭

In scene 2, Gabriel appeared to Mary “And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.”(‭‭Luke‬ ‭1:30-33‬ ‭KJV).

“Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God”. (Luke‬ ‭1:34-35‬ ‭KJV‬‬).

Then Mary said, “Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.” ‭‭(Luke‬ ‭1:38‬ ‭KJV‬‬).

What was the difference between Zacharias’ faith and Mary’s? Zacharias asked how can I know this? Or how can I believe this since my wife and I are so old. He wanted proof before believing. Mary asked how shall this be? She believed that it would be, and asked how it would come to pass.

Both Zacharias and Mary saw the fulfillment of God’s promise at the appointed time. God can not lie and will do whatever He said that He will do.(Numbers 23:19). However, Zacharias suffered with the inability to speak for a while as a direct result of his doubt, although he was a man of faith.

Yes, even people of faith can sometimes fall short and doubt, especially when we focus upon our inadequacies instead of God’s possiblities. Nevertheless, God is faithful, even when we are not.(IITimothy 2:13). Instead of asking how can I know, endeavor to trust in the Lord with all of your heart as Mary did. What promise has God placed in your heart? God is the same yesterday, today, and forever.(Malachi 3:6) With Him all things are still possible. (Luke 1:37) Believe!

What Are You Working Towards?

21 Jun
Day in and day out we go to work. The way we feel about our
jobs varies just a bit though. Some of us actually enjoy our
professions. For others, working is nothing more than a dire
necessity which we really do not enjoy at all. Then there are
those of us who are working with goals, dreams, and visions
in mind. The question is, what are you working
towards?

You might be thinking, my job is so menial and degrading
that I'm not proud of what I do. In fact I hate it. Therefore,
I'm only working towards getting out of there every day,
and paying the bills. Or, you may be thinking, the people
that I work with make everyday one to forget. In either case,
you should still have goals, dreams and visions to work
towards.

Your goal could be doing your part to make your environment
at work more pleasant. You have the power to somehow
make a difference every day in your place of work. Complain,
maintain, or change the environment. Broaden your vision.
Open your eyes just a bit more and look for ways to use
the power that you have to make your place of work a better
environment.

If you don't think that you have any power, you
are probably giving your power away to others by working in
frustration. Instead of allowing others to dictate the outcome
of your day, work towards reclaiming your power to enjoy
each day! Be determined - "This is the day the Lord has
made, I will rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24).

Remember to dream. Your dream could be of a better job
some place else. Or, you may dream of a promotion.
You may even dream of retirement. What do you envision
yourself doing next in the next five years? What are the
steps that you need to take to get there? Now begin to
take those steps towards a better tomorrow. But as you do
so, remember to continue to work towards enjoying today.

So, we have to work in order to take care of ourselves and
our families. Nevertheless, it's not all about the money.
Each moment that you spend at work is equal to spending a
moment of your life. You won't ever see those moments
again. Work towards enjoying today, while dreaming for
tomorrow.

The bible reveals the greatest secret to enjoying work.
Despite the challenges we may face each day. It simply
says, "And whatsoever you do, do it heartily as unto the
Lord and not unto men, knowing that from the Lord you
will receive the reward of the inheritance; for
you serve the Lord Christ. (‭Colossians 3:23, 24).
Set goals, dream again, and expand your vision.
But do it all heartily as unto the Lord!
