Getting Rid of “Just in Case”

19 Aug
Recently the Lord surprised me with blessings that are
exceedingly abundantly above all that I could ask or think
(Ephesians 3:20). My response - amazement and gratitude.
While I am amazed, honestly a part of me was afraid to be
excited. Would I be told that this blessing was an error
on someone's part?

Strangely enough, this experience has caused me to wonder
whether I have allowed disappointments to cause me to miss
appointed blessings in other areas of my life. You see, I
recall trudging through a time frame in which I allowed
past experiences to stop me from hoping that anything
extraordinary would ever happen to me. I hoped, but my hope
was usually surrounded by fear that my hope was
probably in vain.

Eventually, amazing things began to happen in my life. I
prayed and planned, and those things that were good, The
Lord worked out (Romans 8:28). But looking back now, I
believe that I have continued to reserve a space within
me for disappointments, "just in in case" - just in case
things don't turn out well. The space reserved for "just
in case" has overshadowed the joy that The Lord longs to
lavish upon those who trust Him infinitely (Philippians
4:4,Galatians 5:22,Romans 15:13, Proverbs 10:28).

So today, by the grace of God, I'm allowing the
Faith and Trust Construction Company to come in and
destroy the room that I once reserved for
"just in case". I'm rebuilding that room with more trust,
joy, faith, and expectation, along with gratitude for The
Lord's patience, and thanks for all that He has
already done. There's no more space for just in case!

Instead of resting upon "just in case", I must lean more
heavily upon "NOW faith". "NOW faith" is the substance
of things HOPED for, the evidence of things not seen"
(Hebrews 11:1).
