GOD is Mindful of You

9 Oct

After gazing upon the majesty of the heavens, David asked the Lord a question that others who are aware of the wonders of God and the sheer sinfulness of man have probably asked.  The question is “what is man, that thou art mindful of him?” (Psalm 8:5).  For God has made us a little lower than the angels. He has also crowned us with glory and honor.

In Psalm 144 (verse 3), David also asked “Lord, what is man that You take knowledge of him?  Or the son of man, that You are mindful of him?” Immediately David answered his own question – “Man is like a breath; His days are like a passing shadow”.

In awe of this God – man wonder, Paul wrote “For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will? For He has not put the world to come, of which we speak, in subjection to angels.  But one testified in a certain place, saying What is man that You are mindful of him, or the son of man that You take care of him? You have made him a little lower than the angels: You have crowned him with glory and honor and set him over the works of Your hands (Hebrews 2:2-7).

The long and the short of it is that God is mindful of you, despite your opinion in the matter.  It doesn’t matter how you might feel, or how little you may think of yourself, God is mindful of you. Every day He awakens you, blessing you with another opportunity and privilege to know Him and to be known by Him.   He’s faithful to His own, even when you have been unfaithful to Him (II Timothy 2:13).

These rights and privileges could have been given to angels who tend to be more obedient than you and I.  Nevertheless, the Lord says to you, “For I know the plans that I have for you.  They are good and not evil, plans to prosper you and to give you a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). For I am mindful of You!
